      A reel that is ideal for smaller saltwater species, estuary, river or boat fishing and is also great for lake work for freshwater species.

      This model features the Easy Cast System, the drag reel also has a silent drag and an auto fish alert that sounds when a fish takes line.

      All major components are injection moulded graphite and fibre glass. All metal components are stainless steel or brass.

      A drag lever on the back of the reel will allow you to disengage the anti-reverse mechanism.

      The smooth clutch is a multi-plate design with polished brass plates combined with PTFE coated woven glass washer which can also withstand very high temperatures.

      Disappointed.

      Can't believe the back switch failed. Its marked 1 2 and left a dot no anti lock the lever won't shift only on dot. Brand new I was going fishing for Easter good on ya I purchased this a few months ago not used. They give a 7 day warranty. Send me a video on how to fix it. FMD

      Alvey 50GCZ

      I have used the Alvey 50GCZ reel primarily for freshwater fishing in the Murray River and Lake Hume to target Carp, Murray Cod and Redfin. It has been used exclusively for bait fishing. I generally use two rods so the 50GCZ has been used alongside an older Alvey 45BC reel which provides a good comparison. Various spinning style rods of 7 to 8 foot are used as casting distance is generally not an issue.
      Carp to 80cm and cod to 60cm have been caught along with smaller redfin with these two reels.
      The drag activation mechanism on the 50GCZ does not seem to be as robust as the older 45BC. The drag switch does not seem to be as solid as the smaller 45BC and sometimes fails to hold in the on position especially when the drag is tightened right up.
      The 50GCZ is a lighter weight reel well suited to redfin in freshwater and whiting, bream, gar fish, leather jacket and other smaller coaster estuary species. The 50GCZ however is just not strong enough to handle the drag pressures required to stop fish of 60cm plus getting back into snags which are generally only meters away.
      If people are looking for a reel to target Murray Cod and larger carp in freshwater situation, I would recommend either the 45KGCZ or better still if you able to find one second hand a 50C (the stainless steel backed drag version.)
      Alvey could even put the 50C back into production and market it as a solid bait fishing reel for Murray Cod and larger carp.

      Returns for refund will only be accepted within 7 days of you receiving the goods. Returned goods must be in its original condition and include all the original packaging. Shipping and handling cost are not refundable. This return for refund policy is applicable for change of mind, and lack of expertise for use of product.

      Any incorrect, missing or damaged items received must be reported to Alvey within 24 hours of you receiving the delivery.

      If item(s) received is not what was ordered please do not open the sealed package in which it was sent. Any attempt to use the incorrect item will be deemed to be acceptance by the customer of the item(s) as a satisfactory substitute for the one that was ordered and no further claim can be raised thereafter.

      Alvey owns the title of any extra goods shipped with your order that have been dispatched in error. 

      Shipping

      We do not ship to third party addresses unless that address is known and can be verified by Alvey.

      Customers are responsible for paying any freight charges incurred by refused shipment and unclaimed goods. Alvey will make every effort to deliver on time but cannot guarantee specific time periods.

      Customers are responsible to have someone at the delivery address to sign for and accept the delivery. Cost for re-delivery attempts may be passed to the customers if the delivery address is unattended at the time of delivery.

      International Orders

      Alvey currently ships to Australia only. For all other countries, please contact us prior to ordering. Alvey will take no responsibility for goods once those goods leave Australia. All international orders must be paid with either PayPal or direct deposit.
